We are regular opera-goers who meet monthly to discuss opera, illustrated by use of DVDs.  Members take turns on a rota to lead the group. Initially we talked about and watched extracts  from a particular opera, often one currently playing in London and the South East.  We pre-circulated DVDs of the opera to be discussed.  More recently we have expanded to cover a broader approach, for example discussing a particular composer, or perhaps a composer and a particular librettist, and still circulate an illustrative DVD.  Members are encouraged to talk about what particularly interests them, but does not preclude just looking at a single opera. On occasion we have been to operas, or seen them live streamed at a local cinema, as a group.
